To activate FLIX, simply activate NIGHT-MODE – done by holding the INDIGLO button (top-right) for four seconds until you hear a beep tone. Once NIGHT-MODE is active, a forward “flick” of the wrist with a sharp “stop” will activate the INDIGLO night-light for a full three seconds.

Needless to say this is ideal for runners or riders who can’t start their workouts until the dark hours of the day.

The topic of my last post illustrates my point, when introduced the Timex Indiglo Technology. To recap, Indiglo is a technology that lights up your Timex watch in a striking luminescent display making night runs a joy at only a fraction of the battery power of other sports watches.

Here we take a look at another great Timex innovation that is built on top of Timex Indiglo. The new Timex FLIX system activates the Indiglo night-light without the need to press a button. A simple forward flick of your wrist with a sharp stop will illuminate the night-light for a full 5 seconds. As you can imagine, this is an incredibly handy feature when you do not have two hands free, or when fiddling around for buttons is an inconvenience, say in a competitive race.

Bike riding at dawn or dusk is another scenario that comes to mind. The Timex FLIX 100 Lap IRONMAN Watch, in particular radically reduces the risk of overbalancing and coming to grief when you are cycling in the dark or in low light conditions. FLIX is also a god-send for winter track running, no longer must you break your rhythm, leaning over and fumbling in the dark for the right button. A quick flick of your wrist, a side-ways glance and your illuminated lap and split times are immediately where you want them.

To use FLIX, you must first activate Night-Mode by pressing and holding the Indiglo night-light button for 3 seconds until it beeps. See our Timex IRONMAN watch diagram for a reference of which button this is. Once Night-Mode is active you may proceed to use the FLIX system as you desire.

One thing you should be know about FLIX is that you will need to give it a firm shake to activate. This is a necessary evil, for if not, Indiglo would go off at the slightest vibration or change in direction, which, as you can imagine would be frequent over the course of a sporting activity. If this concerns you, then a FLIX watch may not be for you. For most of us, I suspect, the benefit of FLIX far outweighs this slight con.
